QuitMeter Counter Standalone Version 1.0.7 -> IMPORTANT NOTES for Windows Vista users <- |
|||||
|
QuitMeter Counter Standalone calculates to the second (or minute,
or hour, or month, or year—you name it!) how long it's been since
quitting smoking (or a variety of other vices), along with the amount of
money saved. No-smoking stats can be inserted into an e-mail with a single hotpaste key combination, like so: "6 months, 6 days, 19 hours, 54 minutes and 15 seconds. 7,553 cigarettes not smoked. $1,019.66 saved." Milestones are noted, with or without fanfare sounds, as they are reached. The program is fully skinnable and completely customizable via the vice-o-matic[tm] interface which lets you accomodate an addiction that even we haven't thought of yet (thank heavens). Click here to view an assortment of skins and quit settings. Although we hope you won't need it, there's even the ability to account for "slippage," moments of weakness which might otherwise require a complete counter reset. You can download and evaluate the program for up to a week without paying (IMPORTANT NOTES for Windows Vista users). After that, you can buy a registration key that allows you immediate unlimited use of the program for $9.95. Or you can buy a copy on CD-ROM for $19.95, plus shipping and handling. Quitting smoking may be the most important decision you make in your life. Treat yourself to the standalone QuitMeter and make quitting a little bit easier and a little bit fun! QuitMeter Counter Standalone is free to try for up to 7 days. If you haven't already, download it now. As always, the online version of the QuitMeter is free! |
"Intuitive, fun and easy to use. You can try it for a week before you buy it. The price is a very reasonable $10.00, which you can pay for just by not smoking two or three packs over the next day or so." -- Christine Rowley, about.com Guide |

Windows Vista Users: I am told that the standalone QuitMeter works with Windows Vista, but that care should be taken when installing it. During installation, about a dozen files will try to install older versions of corresponding Vista/XP Files; for EVERY instance, do NOT overwrite the more recent Vista/XP files on your PC. You do this by answering YES when prompted as to whether you want to keep your existing file. After installation and when you try to first run the QuitMeter, you may get two errors:
Problem Number 2 (under Vista) can be resolved by going to an elevated Command Prompt; i.e, run the Command Prompt as an administrator. You can do this by right clicking on the command prompt option and selecting "Run as Administrator." Then typing "Regsrv32 mclhotkey.ocx" (without the quotation Marks) and pressing Enter. MCLHOTKEY.OCX is an old Active X control file, most likely installed by QuitMeter and (under Vista) is located in c:\windows\system32\ HUGE thanks and a tip of the hat to Bob Owen for those instructions. | |||||
